Grong is known for the good salmon fishing in its rivers Namsen and Sanddøla and thousands of anglers flock to the village each summer to try their luck. A wide range of fishing permits is available at all prices – from standard hourly and daily permits to exclusive packages with dedicated guides and fishing reserves.
In addition to salmon fishing, Grong also has hundreds of exciting fishing waters to tempt anglers. It is possible to rent boats for three of the lakes through the tourist information office. All you need for inland fishing is the “Grongkortet” permit that you can buy from the tourist information office and most campsites, as well as from the Statoil petrol station in Harran and Namsen Laksakvarium.
Hunting and outdoor pursuits
Ptarmigan, wood grouse, black grouse and hare are the most common small game that can be hunted in Grong. Hunting permits can be bought from Grong Fritidssenter as well as other places. Elk, deer and beavers are also hunted. If you enjoy an excursion without a hunting rifle, then there are many options either by bike or on foot. You will find suggestions for several beautiful outings with good descriptions and outline maps at www.hikebike.no.
